Used as a liner

Release paper is used as liner (i. e. backing paper) for pressure-sensitive labels, tapes, and other adhesive-coated products. The adhering paper is called the face (stock or paper). The 2 main alternative base papers are:

Glassine

Its translucence allows label application machine scanners to view the label position from underneath the backing paper.

Grammage 30-80 g/m2

Bleached kraft

provides better dimensional stability and bulk than glassine, as required for sheet printing.

Grammage 30-90 g/m2, can go up to 130 g/m
